Jayanth Charya
April 14, 1983 – March 5, 2003

On March 5th, 2003 Jayanth Charya passed away at a young 19 years of age, at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Jayanth grew up in Rockville, Maryland. Most
recently, Jayanth was a freshman at the University of Maryland. He graduated from Richard Montgomery High School, where he actively participated in the Jazz
Ensemble and performed in the orchestra. Jayanth was a talented musician and active in the community. He played lead guitar in a rock band, performing for various community events. A second-generation American of Indian origin, his talents and activities spanned both cultures. Jayanth played Asian music for SIDRA’s dance performances in the Washington DC area. Jayanth was also active in the Indian Students Association at the University of Maryland. Jayanth was a truly gentle soul, loved by everyone he touched – a true testimony to the saying “only the good die young”.
