The JJ Metta Foundation finally came to fruition in 2006, after a long period of thoughtful planning. We are still a fledgling operation, and we are always looking for more donors and opportunities to expand. Currently, we have about ten underprivileged children participating in our daily program with their mothers.

The children are engaged in educational activities (thanks in part to a recent donation of some school supplies) that they would otherwise never have a chance at. They are taught how to read, they are educated on hygiene skills, and they are also given instruction in yoga and other cultural arts. Of course, none of this could be done on an empty stomach, so we provide the children with a nutritious meal.   
              
Obviously, the more funding we receive, the more assistance we can provide. We someday hope to expand from our four-room schoolhouse into a larger schoolhouse with expanded facilities. One of our wishlist items is a minivan or bus to provide transportation to those too poor to afford even bus fare.  Our future ideological goals are simple: assist as many children as possible, and hope our little school produces a positive ripple effect in the surrounding community and even the larger world.
