Nurturing Young Minds for a Promising Future

Empowering Girl Child Through Education, Knowledge, and Creativity

At ANEW, we recognize that an open and educated mind is key to a world of opportunities. Our programs foster intellectual growth, provide access to quality education, and nurture creativity—with special focus on the girl child in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

By removing educational barriers, we allow young minds to dream big and achieve their fullest potential—transforming lives and building a foundation for lifelong success.

Our Projects In India

Education transforms lives. ANEW provides access to critical educational resources to ensure children have the tools to succeed.

For nearly 20 years, ANEW has supported the Sphoorti Children’s Home near Hyderabad, Telangana. We maintain a library where more than 200 children can access texts, workbooks, fiction, nonfiction books, and other written materials. This space enables students to explore topics beyond their school curriculum, encourages them to pursue personal interests, and deepens their learning.

Our computer lab ensures that students have access to up-to-date research tools, digital literacy resources, and online educational content—preparing them for the modern world.

We proudly support the Dharavi Art Room, a transformative program that provides children in Mumbai’s Dharavi community with access to space, materials, and guidance to explore and enhance their community through creative expression.

In 2023, ANEW funded the construction of a new playground at Sphoorti Foundation, Hyderabad, to encourage and provide opportunities for creativity, physical activity, and social interactions between school children.

To encourage safe transportation of schoolchildren from the Sphoorti campus to the Zilla Parishad Government School (about 4 km or 2.5 miles) in Hyderabad, ANEW funded a new school bus in 2022.

The route is not safe given incidents such as snake bites and theft. Walking to school poses an even more serious threat for girl children. This new bus also provides safe transportation for field trips and related educational opportunities, ensuring children can learn beyond the classroom without risking their safety.

In 2012-2013, ANEW built separate toilets for boys and girls at Government High School, Dammaiguda, Telangana, along with a school kitchen. These improvements significantly enhanced hygiene, nutrition, and overall learning conditions for students.

The school kitchen ensured that children received nutritious mid-day meals, addressing malnutrition and improving concentration and academic performance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when schools shifted to online learning, ANEW donated 20 mobile phones and laptops to underprivileged students in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana. This ensured that children from disadvantaged backgrounds could continue their education remotely and not fall behind academically during lockdowns.

In 2019, ANEW collaborated with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop and distribute the “Muddmandaram” illustrative book in social welfare schools. This culturally relevant educational material helped make learning more engaging and accessible for tribal and marginalized children in Andhra Pradesh.

In 2024, ANEW adopted 25 girl children for education in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, sponsoring their school fees, uniforms, textbooks, and other educational needs. This initiative ensures that girls from disadvantaged backgrounds can complete their schooling without financial barriers.

Additionally, ANEW donated school bags and water bottles to 200 students in government schools across Telangana, providing essential supplies that support their daily learning needs.

In 2025, ANEW provided educational scholarships to 50 students in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana to promote continued academic success and reduce dropout rates among underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child.

These scholarships cover tuition fees, school supplies, and other educational expenses, ensuring that bright young minds can pursue their studies without interruption.

Our Future Projects

Over the next two years, JJMMF is dedicated to expanding health and hygiene programs for women and children in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana:

Scholarships for the Girl Child

Our primary focus is providing educational scholarships to girl children of various age groups to ensure they complete their schooling and pursue higher education across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. We are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

Sponsoring Education for Children in Need

The foundation will sponsor the education of underprivileged children, facilitating access to quality schooling and holistic development opportunities. By addressing barriers to education, we strive to nurture confident, educated individuals who will contribute to building a more just and equitable society.

Infrastructure Development

We plan to continue building libraries, computer labs, and learning centers in underserved communities across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ensuring that every child has access to the resources they need to succeed academically.

Scholarship Expansion

ANEW aims to expand its scholarship program to reach more students across multiple districts, reducing dropout rates and promoting higher education access for marginalized youth, especially the girl child.

    Afterschool Study Centers

ANEW initiated afterschool learning programs for children in underserved urban communities in Andhra Pradesh. Each of the 16 currently operating centers provides girls and boys with expanded learning opportunities with trained teachers, augmented resources, and nutritious snacks.

    Menstrual Health and Hygiene

Menstrual health and hygiene are critical issues affecting young girls and women in India.

Our Project Dignity addresses these issues by educating girls on menstrual health, providing sanitary products, and advocating for better hygiene practices. Through workshops, hygiene fairs, and access to sanitary pads, we help girls manage their menstruation confidently and safely, both at home and at school.

In the Paderu tribal region of Andhra Pradesh, ANEW worked with the Tribal Development Authority to establish a women-run menstrual pad production facility that produces clean, affordable pads and provides independent income for more than two dozen tribal women.

In tribal North America, we provide menstrual health supplies to schools, clinics, and women’s shelters in the Standing Rock Sioux reservation in North and South Dakota.
